Coaching Staff

Allan Bailey

This is Coach Bailey's first year as the Head Softball Coach. Coach Bailey is starting his 10th year teaching and this his 4th year at Apalachee.

 

"I love the CHEE NATION and love being here at AHS. My wife, Madison, teaches Special Education down the road at Kennedy Elementary. We have a beautiful 20 month old daughter - Adaline Grace. We love living in this great community!"

In addition to coaching softball, Coach Bailey is the Head Baseball Coach and teaches Health/PE at AHS. 

Vance Medlam

Coach Medlam is no stranger to the ball field. Raising and coaching two daughters who played competitive travel and college softball, Coach Medlam brings many years of experience to our program.

Coach Kyle Bailey

This is Coach Kyle’s third year at Apalachee after moving from the Oconee County school system. Kyle played shortstop at Anderson University in South Carolina, where he also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History and in Secondary Education.

 

He is currently the Infield Coach/Varsity Assistant for the Baseball Program here at AHS, but he has also been an Assistant for the Varsity Boys Basketball team. He is also the "Voice of the Wildcats" during Friday Night football games.

 

Kyle’s wife, Katie, is an Emergency Room Nurse at Gwinnett Medical Center, and they have two Golden Retrievers and two horses.

Coach Brooke Turner

This is Coach Turner’s 3rd year of teaching and her first year at Apalachee. Before coming to AHS, Coach Turner played softball at North Oconee High School, LaGrange College and coached at Villa Rica High School.

 

“I am so excited to be joining Apalachee this year! My family lives in Oconee County, where I was born and raised, and it is so good to be back close to home. I’m looking forward to sharing my love for the game with a new softball family!”

 

Coach Turner will be teaching Economics at Apalachee this year.

Coach Anna Lee Stone

This will be Coach Stone's first year coaching at Apalachee. Coach Stone just graduated from Piedmont College with a bachelor's degree in Political Science and Sociology. She played softball at Cherokee High School and then at Piedmont College for 4 years. During her high school playing career, Coach Stone had three state tournament appearances and was a GHSA Elite 80 club member. At Piedmont, Coach Stone was a catcher. They won the Regular Season Conference in 2016, 2017. 2018 with two NCAA regional appearance 2016 and 2019. She was a two time member of the All-conference academic team. 

 

"I am excited to be apart of this program. I am honored to have the opportunity to help coach and develop them as individuals. Softball is home and this team is going to become family."

Coach Westley Coe

Coach Westley Coe, his wife (Shelly) and their daughter (Madyson) have been part of the CHEE Nation for several years. This is Coach Westley's first year coaching at AHS. Coach Westley will bring over 10 years of experience and knowledge to the program. Having served on the Softball Board, he is no stranger to the program. He is passionate about the game, but even more passionate about these girls developing into well-rounded young women. He treats players with respect, while expecting hard work on the field, in the classroom, and in their community. Coach Westley and Shelly currently work in two of our Barrow County middle schools.
